The infuriating thing with automatic watches is that if you forget to wear them for a few days they’ll stop working and forget the time. Seiko have come up with a solution with their Auto Relay watches range.

If your Auto-Relay watch hasn’t been worn for three days it will go into sleep mode where the hands and cogs stop moving. Yet at the same time the watch will keep ticking the time internally, this power saving function means that some models can remember the time for up to four years. A simple shake of your Seiko will reawaken your watch and the hands will sweep around to the correct time.
