Concept wrist watches 'show great promise'

Many strange watch designs go under the radar, though one lover of timepieces has collated a few of the best ideas together in the vain hope that they will finally go into production in the next year or two.

Digital Arts Online was very impressed by the clever Ora by Alexandros Stasinopoulos, which harnesses three separate crossing tape measures on conveyor belts to layer the three important numbers for hours, minutes and seconds.

The Invisible Laser Shot from Andy Kurovets also proved to be a trendsetter, projecting the time via a series of red lasers onto the wrist of the wearer.

Despite this, it was the Tiwe from Lv Zhongfang that seemed to take all the honours and is based on the flicking arm motion that watch owners regularly do as they pull back their sleeves to check the clock.

"Shaking this watch or tapping its face causes the OLED screen's randomly scattered dots to assemble into clock hands," Digital Arts Online continued.

Many companies have made a purpose out of concept watches, notably Tokyo Flash, which ran a competition over February and March to find the next great design.
