Car-inspired watches 'are popular on the market'


There are currently a lot of automotive-inspired men's wrist watches on the market.

This is according to men's lifestyle website Ask Men, which has claimed that the IWC Grosse Ingenieur AMG, Lamborghini Blancpain Super Trofeo and Ferrari Perpetual Calendar by Panerai are among them.

"Cars and watches have a long history together as two of man's greatest and most desired creations," the publication commented.

"Countless watches have been designed as homage to great racing cars, teams and tracks."

Ask Men described the Ferrari Perpetual Calendar wrist watch, which retails at around £18,000, as "an impressive timepiece", saying that if a man can afford a Ferrari, he should be able to afford it.

This comes after women's fashion magazine Elle recently dubbed the Timex 80 wrist watch one of the best of 2009, based on its retro digital style, edgy rubber strap and varied colour selection which serves to create a sense of nostalgia.
