'Epic watches' on show at BaselWorld


The annual BaselWorld meeting took place again this March, demonstrating the latest developments in the planet's biggest watch fair, and Switzerland yet again showed plenty of wonderfully strange offerings.

Wired was one of many outlets at the event and explained that the "usual mix of high-end luxury, technical prowess and the just plain weird" was on show, adding: "Think of it as the high-end European version of the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas."

Citizen watches featured prominently, it explained, with the famous World Perpetual AT making its debut and showing how it syncs to time signals in the US, Europe, Japan and China to ensure that a high level of accuracy is always available.

Other crazy abilities from watches were also on show, such as with the Breitling SuperOcean II, which claims it is waterproof to 1,500 metres, while Timex watches were also out in force through the company's TX brand.
