Seiko to re-release famous pyramid talking clock


The Pyramid Talk clock from Seiko is going back on the shelves in Japan, in a retro move from the wrist watch maker from Tokyo.

Launched in 1984, the talking Pyramid Talk clock was very popular in the Western market, though the new version aims to be a vast improvement on the original, incorporating better technology.

Upon its launch, it was the first talking quartz clock on the market, though the newer version retains much of its functionality, with the update also featuring additional LED lighting while speaking the date, weather and temperature data in both Japanese and English when the user presses the top of the pyramid twice.

Sadly for fans of the original, it's currently only available in Japan, so buyers will have to invest in a Seiko wrist watch while they're waiting for the inevitable import.

Alongside the Pyramid Talk, Seiko is perhaps best known for its classic Grand Quartz, which was released in the late 1970s.
