Limited edition Seiko watch draws praise


A Seiko watch designed for use in space has been hailed after selling for thousands of pounds at an auction.

Only six Seiko Spring Drive Spacewalk wrist watches were manufactured on its first run, one of which was worn by millionaire Richard Garriott at the International Space Centre last year.

According to Ben Clymer, executive editor of Hodinkee, the public will soon be able to get their hands on a limited edition run of the timepieces.

Writing for AskMen UK, he described the wrist watches as "incredibly accurate and complicated", but warned that they come with a hefty price tag.

"The Spacewalk is the only watch actually designed and created for a trip into space," Mr Clymer commented.

He added that this "good looking" wrist watch contains a variety of features such as a power reserve indicator, a 12-hour chronograph and a strap designed by Russian Federal Space Agency.

Earlier this week, World Tempus reported that the Seiko Watch worn by Mr Garriott in space last year sold at auction for more than £28,000.
