Indian outing for Seiko wrist watches shows space offering


Seiko has just launched a range of watches for the Indian market, including its famous Seiko Spring Drive Spacewalk timepiece for the first time in the country, at the recent Samay Bharti 2010 event in Mumbai.

The company this week put the special wrist watch on display in the city formerly known as Bombay alongside a few other famous timepieces including the world's first quartz timepiece, the Seiko Quartz Astron, as well as the Seiko Electronic Ink watch.

Its Spring Drive Spacewalk is the first to be created especially for a spacewalk, being worn by adventurer and game creator Richard Garriott on his space mission in 2008.

Tetsuji Ishimaru, the managing director of Seiko Watch India, said: "From its foundation in 1881, the brand has created revolutions in watch making, supported by its technology and craftsmanship."

He added that Seiko wrist watches showed a testament to the brand's "superior technology", which "stands on the pillars of innovation and refinement".

In the United Brands 2009 Watch and Jewelry List released last month, the entry-level category was topped by Seiko wrist watches.ADNFCR-2637-ID-19605860-ADNFCR
