Jewellery expo starts in Doha


The 7th edition of the Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition has opened in the Middle East, with glamour and style ushering in a number of impressive wrist watches and expensive jewellery from 255 iconic brands across 16 countries.

Prime minister and foreign minister of Qatar Sheikh Hamad bin Jassem bin Jabor Al Thani officially inaugurated the event at the Qatar International Exhibition Centre, accompanied by chairman of the Qatar Tourism Authority Ahmed Al Nuaimi.

The tourism chief said: "I am delighted to present the largest edition of our annual Doha Jewellery and Watches Exhibition to date. We are proud to organise such a prestigious regional event in Doha, and we are honoured by the overwhelming turnout at today's exhibition opening."

Around 15,000 sq m of exhibition space will be fully-occupied by pavilions belonging to leading jewellery and wrist watch stores and it is hoped the six-day international exhibition will be bigger than ever.

In terms of events, Qatar is vying to be the host of the upcoming 2022 World Cup, going up against Australia, South Korea, Japan and Indonesia from the Asian Football Confederation.ADNFCR-2637-ID-19621898-ADNFCR
