Katherine Kelly makes style statement with 1980s-style watch

Katherine Kelly, who plays gobby Becky Granger in Coronation Street, is renowned for her wacky dress sense on the cobbles of Weatherfield, but in reality, she is one dedicated follower of fashion.

The blonde bombshell took to the red carpet of the 2009 Inside Soap Awards this week wearing an on-trend ensemble of acid wash skinny jeans, killer heels and a skimpy stylish metallic top.

But what really set her apart from her fellow soap stars was the way in which she accessorised her outfit - with a 1980s-inspired oversized fashion watch.

Consisting of a white strap with black panels, a white frame and face, this ladies' watch would have looked right at home on the arm of Kylie Minogue during her days on Neighbours.

This comes after Prince William's girlfriend Kate Middleton was recently spotted sporting an oversized diamond-encrusted ladies' watch this week.

However, her fashion statement was not received well, as the News of the World described it as "a tacky timepiece".
