Far East designer to release "pretentious" watches

Swiss fashion watch company Tendence is set to premiere its newest range of crystal-decorated watches, which will form part of a major collaboration with a Japanese designer and artist, according to a new report.

Working out of Tokyo with her team, Kazuto Titanda is to work as a major contributor to the company's newest creations. Professional Jeweller reported that the expert decorated a number of timepieces in a style that has seen her selling well to Japanese collectors and fellow artists - potentially opening up a new market for Tendence.

The publication said that her style is "lush, sexy, glamorous ... really pretentious kitsch" - something used by Titanda to describe her work - while each creation gives each artist free reign over their own creativity by producing them by hand.

It was added that the Tendence Crystal Art line will be revealed to the world's press at the upcoming BaselWorld conference.

Baselworld 2010 will take place from March 18th to March 25th in Basel, Switzerland.
