Market for watches is 'shifting towards women'

Women love their wrist watches and this is reflected in sales figures, it is asserted.

Women's watches have taken a major share of sales in recent years, with businesses now carrying out a reorientation process on their sales pitching to improve their fortunes, it is believed.

Writing for mydigitalfc.com, Sangeetha G said that women are empowered to make clear their own specific choices and needs to such a degree that they command the market as a whole.

As a result, ladies' watches - which used to be smaller and thinner versions of men's offerings - are not seen often anymore, the writer added.

Instead, they are mimicking jewellery, by matching the watch face to bracelet-style bands, though others prefer to make sporty or ultra-feminine offerings, Sangeetha added.

Titan Industries is extending its range of watches for women, with Harish Bhatt, the chief operating officer, stating: "These feminine watches are designed differently to look more like an ornament than a functional gadget."
