Kate Middleton flashes bling watch

Kate Middleton may have her heart set on receiving a sparkling diamond engagement ring from Prince William, but until that day comes, she seems to have settled for some bling on her wrist.

The 27-year-old was spotted enjoying a night out at the cinema with the future King of England wearing a very ostentatious fashion watch.

Usually favoured by people like footballers' wives and soap stars, the wrist watch looked somewhat out of place on the prospective royal and the News of the World even went as far as to describe it as "a tacky timepiece".

Consisting of a black leather strap and a large diamond-encrusted face, the accessory was certainly eye-popping.

This comes after Swatch president Arlette-Elsa Emch recently suggested that bigger watches are becoming more popular among women.

She told the Guardian that it is currently trendy for girls to wear their boyfriend's watch, which she attributed to them wanting to form a closer connection.
