Kenneth Cole powers Fraser success

The House of Fraser is doing extremely well in the recession, with the organisation reporting remarkable gains this Christmas following sales of several brands in particular.

Wrist watch followers will probably be unsurprised that clothing from Kenneth Cole, alongside other House labels, saw a 33 per cent rise in sales while women's and men's fashion accessories - including timepieces - also boosted income.

John Lewis and Next have also been among the big earners over Christmas, though like-for-like sales at House of Fraser jumped by a whopping 7.1 per cent for the eight weeks to January 2nd, while Boxing Day sales alone were up by 27 per cent.

"It was pleasing that we had our biggest ever Christmas week and Boxing Day, with some of our stores, such as Oxford Street, experiencing their strongest ever performance," chief executive John King declared.
