Issey Miyake launches new Trapezoid wrist watch

Big followers of Issey Miyake's impressive line of wrist watches will be happy to find out that the company has released a new version of its popular Trapezoid AL timepiece.

Designed by Naoto Fukasawa, the new model "creates an enhanced image with a unique colour combination of delicate purple and the grey chronograph and tachymeter scales", adding extra depth to what is already considered to be a classic design.

Mr Fukasawa's idea was to produce a watch with numbers that were proportioned like speed limits painted on a road surface, meaning they are stretched in height to be readable when seen from the front, though they are steeped heavily towards the circumference.

The purple offering, known by the SILAT006 code, will add to the black-on-white SILAT004 and the SILAT005, which reverses this popular combination.

Mr Fukasawa, born in 1958, is on the design board for popular high-street store Muji as well as receiving the Royal Designer for Industry award from the Royal Society of Arts, adding to over 50 other commendations. ADNFCR-2637-ID-19491724-ADNFCR
