G-Shock wrist watches 'still going strong'

A broadsheet has congratulated a line of watches for its commitment to high standards since the line's creation back in 1983.

Following the announcement that the newest range of G-Shock watches was being released, the Independent said that their cutting-edge technology and ability to withstand all kinds of gravitational and physical tests shows that it is a brand to be trusted.

Commenting on the watch's creation and the climate of the times, it continued: "At that point, the trend was for thinner and lighter watches.

"Twenty-seven years later, Casio has sold more than 70 million G-Shock units around the world - and its rivals have realised that slim is not everything."

The big break for G-Shock wrist watches came in late 80s, when skateboarders and other youngsters in the US who were conscious of fashion and "looking cool and sporty" appeared in Japanese magazines, causing the brand to boom in its home territory around 1990.

Casio's Go Green Project is the freshest G-Shock release from the company and marks Earth Day's 40th anniversary.
