Casio watches go green for Earth Day anniversary


Fans of Casio watches can now be a little more environmentally friendly with their next G-Shock watch purchase.

A new range of limited edition Casio watches has been launched to commemorate Earth Day's 40th Anniversary.

The three new G-shock watch models are packaged in 100 per cent recycled paper and use advanced solar technology as an energy source.

Coming in white and green shades, the timepiece colours have also been inspired by Earth Day.

The smooth operation of power-hungry functions on the watches is ensured through the use of a tiny solar panel, combined with a large-capacity rechargeable battery.

Vice president of Casio's timepiece division Shigenori Itoh explained that the company was thrilled to incorporate the G-Shock technology into an environmentally-friendly product.

He said: "Casio has adopted a company-wide commitment to preserving our global environment through proactive initiatives to minimise CO2 emissions, reduce consumption as well as create innovative environmentally conscious products."

The launch of the new G-Shock models has been accompanied by the unveiling of a new solar-powered Baby-G watch, the Eco-Baby-G.ADNFCR-2637-ID-19602213-ADNFCR
