Fossil and Casio 'actively targeting Indian market'

Fossil and Casio watches could soon be hitting India in increased amounts, should a new report's prediction prove true.

According to Asian News International, the popularity of luxury watch brands in the Indian subcontinent could bring in a new wave of businesses looking to expand their operations in the nation.

Luxury Swiss brand Raymond Weil Watches believes that seven per cent of its income can be gained from India, while other brands have taken the plunge including Fossil, Citizen and Casio watches.

Oliver Bernheim, the chief executive officer and president of the company, emphasised the market's love of watches: "Indian end consumers are very innovative today. They want to see nuances, they want to be global, they want to see a watch that would fit to their waist.

"So, I love the Indian end consumer because he is open for fresh products for nuance."

Last month, National Jeweler identified that innovation in selling watches is now found all over the globe, including the ability to use computer software to show how different styles, straps and watch faces will go together. ADNFCR-2637-ID-19438841-ADNFCR
