ZG Watches says: This is the latest in the Giez range of G Shocks and is a slight departure from the chronographs that have made these watches bestsellers. Two sub dials still exist but are now supplemented with two digital displays for extra functionality. And talk about functions - world time, stopwatch, countdown timer and five alarms. All powered by the sun using Casio’s Tough Solar cell.
Looks wise this Giez watch is again different from previous G Shocks. Instead of layers of metal and plastic this G Shock is a solid piece of metal with a resin wrap around. This looks really classy and allows the watch to have a relatively compact looking case. The face is also really well balanced with the sub dials and two digital displays.

Reviews for the Casio Ana-Digi Giez Solar G Shock - GS-1050-1ADR
Add by by Henh Ban Song. on Monday 21 September, 2009
Just got this watch today, and this is what i think:
PROS:
The watch itself (i.e., minus the strap) is SOLID built piece, it has weight so you know you got something sturdy.
The watch is analogue and digital (digital aspect is good for reading the time off when tired on shift and good for planning ahead with the analogue part)
I actually think this watch looks really good i.e., looks expensive: BEAUTIFUL timepiece.
Has a battery level gauge.
World time is useful.... But then how many countries can one be in, dual time is handy for business types, but i think the business types could probably afford a TAG or ROLEX.
Has a BACK LIGHT.
Solar powered
Power save function - stops digital display at night when there is no light.
CONS
The solar power is a double edged sword, if you haven't got enough charge, certain functions are disabled.
It appears that the watch needs 7 hours in full sunlight to get properly juiced up (excuse for sun bathing then)
THIS WATCH DOES NOT get a time signal from anywhere! despite what it says about "hourly signal", this actually means the watch can be set to beep every hour! I GOT CAUGHT OUT. IT DOES NOT have WAVECEPTOR technology, its a shame as that would have made this watch complete,... almost. So this is a massive weakness - having to set the time manually every now and then is annoying.
Given that the actual watch piece is heavy, the strap is resin and is a bit thin. I think a thicker, wider and heavier strap would have been better. CASIO needs to start talking to military types e.g armed forces, police and sort this out. Only when the whole watch including strap are resilient can we call them TOUGH SOLAR.
That's it, i'm off to try and find a thicker and stronger strap.

Summary:
I think while wearing this in a fight, the attacker may succeed in pulling the strap apart or at least damaging the holes where the buckle pin goes. However, i think the watch piece itself is nigh impervious save the glass of course.... hint hint, start using polycarbonate (bullet proof glass).
I was thinking about changing this over for a waveceptor watch but they are either too expensive and or don't have digital/analog combi and don't look as nice for the price i.e., look plasticky and kinda cheap for the cost (£100 plus).
Note to ZG watches: i think it would be a REALLY good idea to make clear this is not a WAVECEPTOR watch in the specification page just to make sure buyers know this. Overall Rating: [3 of 5 Stars!]
